To the Sea to Breathe
A 4-Night Women’s Retreat on the Washington Coast
July 14–18, 2027
Ocean City, Washington
For Women in Midlife & Beyond
Four nights by the Pacific. Three full days of breathwork, women’s circle, somatic exploration, nervous system education, connection, rest, and time to simply be.
To the Sea to Breathe is an intimate women-only retreat created for women in midlife and beyond who are ready to step away from the pace and responsibilities of everyday life and spend a few days reconnecting with themselves.
We’ll gather Wednesday evening for our welcome and opening women’s circle, then move into three full retreat days Thursday through Saturday.
Across those days, we’ll explore Conscious Connected Breathwork, somatic practices, women’s circle, nervous system education, Somatic Vocalization, reflection, sound healing, and integration.
There will also be plenty of room for what happens between the scheduled experiences, such as conversations over a meal, a walk on the beach, soaking in the hot tub, curling up with a book, laughing with other women, taking a nap, or simply enjoying some time when there is nowhere else you need to be.
This will be an intimate, small-group retreat designed to allow plenty of space for connection, reflection, and individual support.
No previous experience with breathwork, somatics, or women’s circle is needed.

The Rhythm of Our Time Together
Wednesday, July 14
Arrival is between 6:00–7:00 PM.
Dinner will not be served Wednesday evening, so please plan to eat before you arrive.
At 7:30 PM, we’ll come together for our welcome and opening women’s circle for a chance to arrive, meet one another, settle into the space, and begin our retreat together with intention.
Thursday–Saturday
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are our three full retreat days.
Each day will include a thoughtful combination of breathwork, women’s circle, somatic exploration, Somatic Vocalization, nervous system education, reflection, integration, meals together, and time to rest.
Some experiences will invite you inward.
Others will invite connection with the women around you.
And some parts of the day will simply give you space to be.
Sunday, July 18
Breakfast will be served at 7:00 AM.
Checkout will be no later than 9:00 AM.
There will not be a formal Sunday morning circle, allowing time for breakfast, goodbyes, packing, and a relaxed departure home.
Breathwork, Somatics & Your Nervous System
Conscious Connected Breathwork can offer a way to move beyond thinking about what you are experiencing and begin noticing what is happening within your body.
Throughout the retreat, Karen will guide breathwork experiences alongside somatic practices, nervous system education, reflection, and integration.
You may explore sensations, emotions, patterns, boundaries, needs, choices, or parts of yourself that have been difficult to access through words alone.
There is no particular experience you are supposed to have.
Your breathwork may feel emotional, peaceful, energizing, physical, quiet, clarifying, or completely different from the woman beside you.
The invitation is not to perform or accomplish anything.
It is to become curious about your own experience.
Somatic Vocalization
Both Karen and Hanna are trained as Somatic Vocalization Coaches, and opportunities to explore voice and sound will be woven into the retreat.
Somatic Vocalization uses the voice as another pathway into the body.
That might mean exploring sound, breath, expression, boundaries, or the experience of using your voice in the presence of other women.
For some women, allowing themselves to make sound can feel surprisingly vulnerable.
For others, it can feel freeing.
As with everything during the retreat, participation is invitational. You will always have choices about how deeply you engage and what feels appropriate for you.
Group Sound Healing
Together, Karen and Hanna will offer a dedicated group sound healing experience, creating space for everyone to rest, receive, and integrate through sound.
This will be a time to lie down, get comfortable, and allow yourself to simply receive without having to do anything.
The Setting
Our private retreat home is located in Ocean City, Washington, on the Washington coast and just a short walk from the Pacific Ocean.
For four nights, the house becomes our shared retreat space.
There is room to gather together as a group, as well as space to step away when you want some quiet.
Between retreat sessions, you may find yourself walking along the beach, soaking in the hot tub, having tea with another woman, resting in your room, reading, laughing around the table, or simply listening to the ocean.
The coast is not just where this retreat happens.
It is part of the experience.

Retreat accommodations are shared.
Rooms include full-size bunk beds where applicable, and retreat participants will use shared bathrooms.
Room choices are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.

Meals & Being Cared For
One of the gifts of stepping away for several days is not having to think about what everyone is going to eat.
Beginning with breakfast Thursday morning and continuing through breakfast Sunday, meals will be prepared for our group by Donna, our in-house chef and house manager.
That means you can come downstairs in the morning knowing breakfast is waiting.
You can finish an afternoon session without wondering what needs to be cooked.
And you can sit down at the table and enjoy being fed and cared for.
Meals, snacks, coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages are included.
Gluten-free and vegetarian meals can be accommodated.
Please share dietary needs during registration so we can plan appropriately.
Who This Retreat Is For
To the Sea to Breathe is created for women in midlife and beyond.
You do not need to have attended one of Karen’s previous retreats, and you do not need experience with Conscious Connected Breathwork, somatic practices, Somatic Vocalization, or women’s circles.
You may find yourself drawn to this retreat if you are craving space to:
slow down and step away from your usual responsibilities
reconnect with your body
understand your nervous system more deeply
notice what you need and want
explore patterns that may no longer support the woman you are becoming
reconnect with your voice
experience meaningful connection with other women
make room for rest
spend time near the ocean
or simply hear yourself more clearly again
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want from the retreat.
Sometimes creating the space is where that begins.
What This Retreat Is and Isn’t
This is not a party weekend or a luxury spa getaway.
It is a grounded, intentionally small retreat centered around Conscious Connected Breathwork, women’s circle, somatic exploration, nervous system education, meaningful connection, rest, and time by the ocean.
There will be depth.
There will also be laughter.
There will be good food, quiet, conversations, beach walks, hot-tub time, rest, and moments that have absolutely nothing to do with “working on yourself.”
There is room for both.
A Substance-Free Retreat
To the Sea to Breathe is intentionally alcohol-free, recreational-drug-free, smoke-free, and vape-free.
Alcohol, marijuana, recreational drugs, smoking, and vaping are not permitted during the retreat or on the retreat property.
Creating a clear and grounded environment supports the breathwork, nervous system work, connection, rest, and shared experience of the group.
Breathwork & Health Considerations
Conscious Connected Breathwork can be physically and emotionally activating and may not be appropriate for everyone.
Before attending, participants will complete a health history and breathwork waiver.
Certain health conditions may require additional discussion or medical clearance before participating in Conscious Connected Breathwork.
The intention is never to push you beyond what feels appropriate for your body.
Choice is an important part of this retreat. You will be encouraged to stay connected to yourself, your body, and your own limits throughout the experience.
Meet Your Retreat Team
Karen Warwick — Retreat Facilitator
Karen is the founder of Breathe Again Wellness and an Internationally Certified Conscious Connected Breathwork Facilitator, Somatic Coach, Somatic Vocalization Coach, Women’s Circle and Retreat Leader, and Master Sound Healer.
Karen brings a warm, grounded, intuitive presence to the spaces she facilitates. She is deeply committed to helping women slow down enough to hear themselves again and to notice what is happening in their bodies, understand the patterns of their nervous systems, and reconnect with what they need, want, and know.
Her work is deeply personal.
For more than 25 years, Karen lived with ongoing health challenges and spent years trying to think, research, analyze, and problem-solve her way toward feeling better. She became very good at understanding things intellectually, but eventually realized that understanding something and actually feeling different in her body were not always the same thing.
Finding Conscious Connected Breathwork and somatic work changed that.
Later, discovering Somatic Vocalization opened another door.
For the first time, healing was not only something Karen was trying to figure out with her mind. It became something she could experience through her body…. through breath, sensation, movement, sound, voice, emotion, rest, and connection.
That shift was profound.
It helped Karen begin to understand herself and her nervous system in a completely different way, and over time it changed not only how she approached her own healing, but also the work she felt called to offer other women.
Karen knows what it feels like to spend years searching for answers.
She knows what it feels like to want to feel different and not know how to get there.
And she knows how powerful it can be when a woman is finally given enough safety, time, support, and permission to stop trying so hard to “figure herself out” and begin listening to what her body has been communicating all along.
That lived experience shapes the way Karen facilitates.
She does not believe healing should be forced or rushed. She does not believe every woman needs to have a dramatic breakthrough. And she does not believe there is one “right” way for an experience to unfold.
Instead, Karen creates spaces that are trauma-informed, nervous system-centered, relational, and grounded in choice.
Sometimes the work is deep and emotional.
Sometimes it is quiet.
Sometimes it looks like breathwork or vocalization.
Sometimes it looks like finally saying no.
Sometimes it looks like saying yes.
Sometimes it looks like laughing with other women, taking a nap, walking on the beach, or realizing you have not asked yourself what you need in a very long time.
Karen especially loves retreat work because several days together gives everyone something that is often missing in everyday life: time.
Time to arrive.
Time to settle.
Time to build trust.
Time to go deeper when it feels right.
Time to rest when that is what is needed.
And time for the unexpected conversations, laughter, tears, meals, beach walks, and quiet moments that often become some of the most meaningful parts of being together.
Throughout To the Sea to Breathe, Karen will guide the group through Conscious Connected Breathwork, women’s circles, somatic exploration, nervous system education, Somatic Vocalization, reflection, and integration.
More than anything, she wants women to leave feeling more connected to themselves… to their bodies, their voices, their needs, their choices, and their own inner knowing.
And maybe a little more willing to trust what they feel.
Hanna Groff — Assistant Facilitator
Hanna is an Internationally Certified Conscious Connected Breathwork Facilitator, Somatic Vocalization Coach, Women’s Circle Leader, and Master Sound Healer who travels nearly 3,000 miles to assist Karen at her retreats.
But Hanna and Karen’s connection began long before either of them became breathwork facilitators.
They have been soul sisters for more than 32 years.
Across more than three decades of friendship, they have moved through many seasons of life together, traveled the world for breathwork retreats, explored new places, found their way to the ocean whenever possible, and shared more than a few adventures along the way.
That history brings something very special to the way they facilitate together.
There is trust.
There is ease.
There is laughter.
And there is an understanding between them that comes from knowing one another deeply for more than half their lives.
Hanna brings a sunny, nurturing, adventurous, and grounded presence to the retreat. She is warm and caring while also being deeply intentional about supporting healing and creating space for each woman’s individual experience.
She genuinely loves this work.
Throughout the retreat, Hanna will support Karen during breathwork experiences, women’s circles, somatic practices, Somatic Vocalization, and group experiences. She is often the person quietly noticing what is happening around the room, offering an extra layer of support when needed, and helping create an environment where women can feel cared for without being hovered over.
Like Karen, Hanna works with voice and sound through Somatic Vocalization, supporting women in exploring expression, breath, boundaries, and what it can feel like to allow their voices to take up space.
The fact that Hanna flies across the country to be part of these retreats speaks to how much this work, and the women who gather for it, means to her.
She is not simply there to help Karen.
She is an integral part of the retreat and of the warm, supportive space they create together.
Donna Hammers, LMT — In-House Chef & House Manager
Donna is a Licensed Massage Therapist who brings the same nurturing, attentive energy to caring for people that she brings to the kitchen.
She has a natural way of making people feel looked after.
Whether she is preparing a beautiful meal, noticing something that needs attention around the house, or simply offering a warm smile and supportive presence, Donna brings a sweetness and steadiness that allows people around her to settle in.
Her hands are equally at home doing healing work and creating something delicious in the kitchen.
Donna has spent years dedicated to work centered around healing, care, and supporting others, and she has a particular heart for creating nurturing spaces for women.
Karen first experienced Donna in the chef and house-manager role while attending a retreat herself.
Instead of being the person responsible for everyone else, Karen got to experience what it felt like to be on the receiving end of Donna’s care…to have meals thoughtfully prepared, the house quietly looked after, and someone paying attention to all of the small behind-the-scenes details that make a retreat feel easy.
Karen remembers thinking that if she ever created a longer residential retreat of her own, Donna was exactly the kind of person she would want caring for the group.
And now she is.
During To the Sea to Breathe, Donna will be our in-house chef and house manager, preparing our meals and tending to many of the practical details of living together for four nights.
Her role allows Karen and Hanna to stay focused on facilitating and allows the women attending the retreat to do something many women in midlife rarely get enough opportunities to do: let someone else take care of things for a while.
Donna’s sweet, supportive energy, nurturing nature, and genuine commitment to healing work make her a very special part of the retreat team.
Getting to Ocean City
Ocean City is located on the central Washington coast, near Ocean Shores.
For women traveling from outside the area, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is the nearest major airport most participants are likely to use.
Plan on approximately 2½–3 hours of driving from the Seattle area, depending on traffic and your starting location.
Ocean City is approximately 1½–2 hours from Olympia, depending on traffic and route.
As the retreat gets closer, we can help connect registered participants who are interested in coordinating rides or carpooling.
What to Bring
A more complete packing list will be sent before the retreat, but you can plan to bring:
Comfortable clothing for breathwork, circle, and movement
Layers for the Washington coast - yes, even in July it can be cold on the Washington coast!
Comfortable walking shoes
Rain layer or light jacket
Journal and pen
Personal toiletries and medications
Swimsuit for the hot tub
Cozy clothes for evenings and clothes that allow movement for retreat days
Anything that helps you feel comfortable and at home in a shared retreat space
July at the Washington coast can still be cool, windy, or damp, so layers are a good idea.
