  • What can happen during a breathwork session?

During a breathwork session, Karen will guide you to change or restructure your breathing pattern to have a desired effect on the body, mind, and spirit. Breathwork sessions can be calming and regulating at times, and other times, they may be activating. Karen will support and lead you through a session with clear guidance and gentle instruction in order to help you facilitate your desired outcome.

  • I’ve heard people can scream during a breathwork session. Am I expected to do that?

Breathwork can sometimes help create intense emotional releases – which can be a good thing! Through guided breathwork, our intention is to move emotions and energy through your body, so you may find yourself having an emotional response. It is not required or expected though! Some clients have a quiet, internally focused journey and some clients have a louder emotional release. Whatever feels natural to you is perfectly normal and ok.

  • Is shaking during a session considered "normal?"

Shaking during breathwork is completely normal. One reason for the shaking is that the body is releasing tension and stress, which can result in shaking during breathwork sessions. This shaking can be a natural response as the body releases physical and emotional tension, and we have many blankets in my office to support people through the process if needed!

  • Are there any precautions to consider?

Breathwork is a gentle, noninvasive healing modality valuable to anyone interested in healing and personal growth. However, some conditions may necessitate additional support or modification to your breathwork session.

If you have any medical conditions such as (but not limited to): cardiovascular disease, detached retina/glaucoma, diagnosed brain or abdomen aneurysm, diabetes, high blood pressure, schizophrenia, bi-polar, epilepsy, PTSD, complex trauma, or pregnancy, please consult your doctor and obtain their approval to partake in breathwork before scheduling your session.

If any of those conditions apply to you, we are happy to discuss possible modifications in order to accommodate your needs and determine whether this work would be beneficial to you.
